WTAE: Big names speak at sports symposium at University of Pittsburgh

Some big names are teaching people how to win at life during a symposium focused on sports and education called Oasis. This event, taking place on the University of Pittsburgh’s Oakland campus this week, features speakers such as Kevin Colbert, Bill Hillgrove, and Dr. Kathy Humphrey, who are imparting leadership skills.

“Leadership is never about you, it’s never a monologue, it’s always a dialogue, and leadership is the ultimate act of service,” said Kathy Humphrey, President of Carlow University.

WPXI: New sports-centered OASIS event in Pittsburgh aims to help student athletes succeed

PITTSBURGH — Building inclusive and winning teams: that’s the goal of a first-of-its-kind event starting in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. It’s called OASIS, and it’s bringing together leaders and professionals from several avenues to discuss where education and sports align, and how we can make it all better.

CBS Pittsburgh: The inaugural Orange Arrow Symposium in Sports kicks off

OASIS founder Shawn Robinson, and former Pitt football head coach Walt Harris, joined us to talk about the inaugural Orange Arrow Symposium in Sports that kicks off on at Pitt.

About OASIS

WHAT: The Orange Arrow Symposium in Sports (OASIS) is a groundbreaking event that will transform the sports community by fostering  inclusive and winning teams within organizations. Taking place in Pittsburgh, PA the esteemed “City of Champions,” OASIS promises an unforgettable educational, professional development, and connection experience.

OA’s core mission remains youth-centric, acknowledging the evolving sports landscape. While sports have shifted towards club-based activities, often more diverse than traditional school-based teams, many schools and communities remain divided along racial lines. Orange Arrow created OASIS to address this, targeting leaders who influence young athletes. The aim is to equip these leaders with inclusivity skills and values that young athletes will adopt. By reaching adults who lead athletic organizations, Orange Arrow seeks to expand its reach to more schools and universities, creating a ripple effect of inclusivity.

WHO: OASIS welcomes a diverse audience within and surrounding the sports community, including coaches, referees, sports leaders, and media members.

WHERE: The event will be held at the University of Pittsburgh.
